In many ways, sex toys are like high-end fashion designs. One company comes up with an iconic product - and the next thing you know, the market is flooded with copycats. But rarely does one improve on the original.
Similar to the soft iPod-like wares of Swedish vibrator company Lelo, US manufacturers Vida have unveiled a line of medical-grade silicone and anodized aluminum toys that conform to the slope of a woman's body. Vida's products, though, on the other hand, are faster and higher-powered, trussed up in a chic black and pink colour combination and come with a zip-up leather case. Rumour has it that Denzel Washington is a fan.
Four models offer variety for men and women. The Lussuria is the internal toy, with a ribbed texture on one side and a curve on the other for G spot action. The Zara ($149.99) is meant for G spot or prostate use, and is whisper-quiet and small enough not to intimidate. The Vanta , the smallest of the four, is intended for intensely powerful clitoral stimulation, while the Urja is an egg-shaped remote control bullet that can be inserted inside a woman's body and controlled from a distance. (This is, apparently, the model Denzel owns.) Next, the company will put out a line designed for men entitled "Gentlemen by Vida."
All are rechargeable and water- resistant, with five speeds to Lelo's four. Seduction toy buyer Amanda Bowles is more than impressed. "My biggest fascination with these products is the amount of power you can get, which far surpasses anything you can get from [any other] rechargeable toy. Our store hasn't had them for long, but my god, am I putting one on layaway."
Vida Internationale creates consumer buzz with Agent Vida campaign
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Luxury adult novelty manufacturer Vida Internationale takes its Vida brand of intimate massagers to the streets with the mysterious spokesmodel-on-a-mission Agent Vida.
Accompanied by her team of Vida Vixens, Agent Vida is bringing the Vida line of high-end massagers to the red carpet at events like the Voyeur Vida launch party and the opening weekend of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
"The Vida launch party was a star-studded evening," said Vanessa Pellegrini, director at Vida Internationale. "The event was held at the Voyeur club in West Hollywood, Calif. Tons of celebrities attended and Agent Vida was there to drop a few secret hints. The buzz was so juicy that even Perez Hilton mentioned Vida in his blog!"
Ladies, I'm thrilled to share some exciting news. In the next few weeks, we'll be chatting with the makers of some cool and racy new sex toys. First up, is a bit of girl talk with Agent Vida, spokesperson for Vida Internationale.
Smitten: So, you're an Agent? What exactly does a person in your, er, position do?
Agent Vida: Vida Internationale contacted me because I am a world renowned Secret Agent and asked that I find the Essence of Pleasure. When I was approached by Vida Internationale I knew I needed to make it my mission to share the secret of satisfaction with women across the world.
I have been scouring the globe with my tools since my first assignment in January at Voyeur nightclub. Since then I have gone to Sundance, Miami's Winter Music Conference, Las Vegas, South by Southwest and Australia to name a few. I'll be travelling much more so you'll have to follow my travels on Twitter-see if you can spot me. I am getting closer by the day to completing my mission, so close I can almost taste it.
Smitten: How are Vida products different from other toys on the market?
Agent Vida: Vida pleasure objects are not just about the instant gratification; they're about savoring the moment, enjoying life and having pleasure at your fingertips. With my jet setting lifestyle as an Agent, I love Vida pleasure objects because I can become a member of the Mile High Club all on my own.
What differentiates Vida from other high-end sex toys is its mission to deliver a more affordable luxury pleasure object while maintaining superior design and construction. Vida products were created by a team of expert developers from Vast Resources, a company with over 37 years of sex toy manufacturing experience. The Vida team has a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process than many of the fledgling manufacturers who are new to the industry.
Team Vida was able to take their knowledge and experience and use it to create a line of finely crafted pleasure objects, made of the most luxurious and eco-friendly materials, yet all the while keeping costs at a minimum. The very mission of Vida is to make luxury pleasure objects accessible to all.
Smitten: What advice (and vibrator!) would you recommend to someone who is new to toys?
Agent Vida: Similar to an orgasm, your choice of a pleasure object can start small. Think about the toys as your tool for pleasure - it helps you get to the point of no return. Vida pleasure objects can do what a finger or other body part could never dream of.
I would suggest the ZARA. Focusing entirely on the essence, the heart, of your pleasure, ZARA caresses your internal erogenous area with a concentration you've never experienced before. Plus it focuses on G-spot stimulation, it's completely waterproof for those shower scenes and it is earth friendly.
Smitten: Any sexy tips for involving getting your man involved when using these toys?
Agent Vida: Need pleasure on the go? Vida's remote controlled toy, URJA can even be used on operatives at the bar or anywhere within 40 feet of your partner. URJA takes the art of the insertable orb to new heights. Resting quietly inside you, it's your own sensual secret. That is until your lover gets his hands on your URJA remote control turning the vibrations up.
Smitten: What's your most popular toy?
Agent Vida: All tools in my tool belt are essential in my quest for pleasure. However the VANTA is the most popular among my operatives. Getting straight to the point is no problem with VANTA and has made my quest for pleasure much more, well, pleasurable. With 5 speeds of vibration and a full charge, VANTA gets me one step closer to achieving my mission: discovering the Essence of Pleasure.
Smitten: What inspired the design of your products?
Agent Vida: They are inspired by the shape of a woman and meant to be a perfect fit. Each pleasure object is made to stimulate different erogenous zones including the G-spot. They're easily accessible and just in case your Vida pleasure object escapes your purse, you can just tell people it's your remote control. The best part about these sleek, black, gunmetal toys is that it matches my outfit and fits perfectly into my holster.
Thanks Agent Vida!

The Look Book, Caro Marketing , Vida Internationale, and many others joined for this Fashionable vent in celebration of LA Fashion Week Fall 2010. The passion was overwhelming to where it could split atoms with its desire...a night like this was not just for anyone. The uptight and religious need not apply! Living up to its expectation , Zara is derived from a meaning of radiating pleasures from deep within....hmm, a relinquished experience from the heavens.
We precariously step into the tunnel of "Vanta", a translation of yearning for something unattainable that is within the control of our fingertips. Not to underestimate the sensual pleasure of something so petite, for it delivers a more direct external stimulation branding itself apart from the Vida Internationale family. We prance into a world unknown, wearing our blindfolds with mysterious anticipation, but not denying the sole craving of what we innately desire.
"Urja", emulating the hour glass figure of a voluptuous female of mystique stature, this pleasure controller is designed to pleasure from the inside out. The tiniest of all massagers, underestimates the visual perception of what a female expects, but handles the flexibility of what woman desire. Created with an extension of a waterproof silicone cord, emulates the Cat O' Nine tails whip commonly used for that vixen dominatrix living next door.
Instinctively, we dive into the state of extacy for a life of pleasure. When passion meets desire, a wind tunnel of fantasy arrives with no boundaries. A night of "Fashion Vibes" sponsored by Vida Internationale was an ultimate high-rise to the top of what is only meant for secret fantasies. A night of utter indulgence will never be forgotten...

Melbourne - Organizers for Adultex, one of the Southern Hemisphere's largest B2B adult industry events, have received universal praise from the world's leading adult toy manufacturers and media studios. Hosted by Calvista Australia for 6 consecutive years, Adultex 2010 treated adult retailers to three days of non-stop buying and selling in Australia's premium wine growing district, The Hunter Valley, north of Sydney.
"Adultex 2010 was a fantastic event in a superb location, orchestrated with royal finesse," said Melody Murison, co-founder of Standard Innovations. "It was a great opportunity to meet with our Australian customers, get great feedback and relay product information for another exciting year of We-Vibe sales."
Highlights included eight of the world's leading porn super stars, the latest in adult novelty innovation and spectacular gala events. Topco Sales sponsored the glittering Friday night pool-side function, using it to officially launch their luxury range of rechargeable vibrators, VIDA Internationale, into the Australian market.
"As a foundation sponsor of Calvista's Adultex, we have always had a strong presence at all six events with the Topco Sales product range," said Vanessa Pellegrini, Director of International Sales for Topco Sales. "Calvista's market strength and their continued sales success meant Adultex was the perfect launching pad for our newest range, VIDA."
Delegates and exhibitors were treated to a "Knight of Nights" on Saturday, with Touché toys from the Netherlands sponsoring the gala medieval banquet, which saw all in attendance dressing to theme.
"We greatly enjoyed being a part of Adultex and it was an honor to attend," said Scott Taylor, President of New Sensations. "Calvista is clearly the leader in the Australian market as evidenced by this event. We look forward to many more to come."
Each year Adultex continues to grow both in size and in sales. As hosts, Calvista invests in assuring a quality business-only trade floor within a relaxed environment that is commercial, educational and entertaining. The event ensures that its sponsors and Calvista-distributed brands are represented strongly and authentically.
"As Calvista grows, so to does our signature event Adultex," said Michael Bassett, CEO of Calvista Australia.
"Adultex is the most productive gathering of adult industry associates (retailers, distributor and manufacturers) ever assembled under one roof and it has proven to be the undisputed leader for the 6th year in a row," said Levi Yedid from Doc Johnson.
Vida revolutionizes pleasure objects by making them accessible to all. For 3 years, we have witnessed the evolution of the high-end massager, all the while designing what we consider to be a superior, and more affordable, pleasure object. As veterans in the manufacturing of pleasure accessories, we know the true cost of production and we pass that true cost on to you.
The landscape of sensuality has changed tremendously in recent years. Women have made their sensual desires known; adult shops have shifted to cater to these women and their lovers; internet outlets entice women with beautiful, feminine websites, and now pleasure objects have shifted to suit your demand for equally pleasing design and function in one piece.
Each Vida massager comes in a beautiful leather train tote that can be used to store the massager. Each train case includes a soft storage bag, a small catalogue showcasing all the massagers in Vida's Essence of Pleasure line, as well as information on how to operate and care for your massager.
Representing sensuality the entire world over, the Vida line features names chosen from various languages from around the globe - old and new - that evoke the Essence of Pleasure. Lussuria is Lust; Zara is Aim; Vanta is Want; and Urja is Orgasm.
Crafted from earth-safe materials such as anodized aluminium, hygienic silicone and high quality motors, each rechargeable Vida massager can last a lifetime. The sensual curves of Vida massagers are designed to not only fit your body perfectly, but to also rest comfortably in your hand during use.
We hope you fall in lust with life; with Vida.
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Luxury sex toy manufacturer Vida Internationale officially launched last night with a party at Voyeur nightclub in West Hollywood, Calif.
The event was hosted by mainstream actress Sofia Vergara and featured a live performance by Robin Thicke with DJ Jus Ske spinning music throughout the night.
The Voyeur venue was lavishly decorated; with masked, topless women posing, dancing and dangling from the ceiling. The room was filled with international representatives of adult industry manufacturers, distributors and retailers, including Holiday Products, Classic Erotica, Topco Sales and Honey's Place.
Videos of the Essence of Pleasure line played continuously in the background as the line's four vibrators were on display.
Housed under Vast Resources, which also is the parent company of Miracle Beam Products, Basic Solutions and Topco Sales, Vida Internationale has created the Essence of Pleasure line of luxury sex toys.
Gerardo Ramos, the developer of Vida's told XBIZ that each vibe's name is a word derived from various languages from around the globe - old and new - that describe quintessential needs for sexual pleasure.
Lussuria is Lust; Zara is Aim; Vanta is Want; and Urja is Orgasm.
The company's slogan "Sex is Life" also applies to the line's concept.
"Vida means life and the line's four vibes represents the four elements of life - earth, fire, water and air," Ramos said. "The four dots that create the ‘i' in Vida's logo represent that too. It was all part of the concept."
One of the company's principles is to strive to be earth-friendly, a sales rep said. The vibes are mercury-free, cadmium-free and phthalates-free. They also are rechargeable and crafted from anodized aluminum and silicone.
Pollack said the line was designed with consideration to the contours of a woman's body.
"Vida Internationale targets the discerning woman who is willing to take charge of her sexuality," she said. "She makes an above average income yet is savvy when it comes to saving money and getting a good value for her money.
"The concept behind Vida began with a simple mission to make luxury pleasure objects that are priced right - because every woman deserves to experience affordable pleasure."
The Vida Internationale line comes in a leather train case tote with an embroidered Vida logo that includes a soft storage bag. Packaging also includes a catalog of Vida's Essence of Pleasure line, plus detailed care and usage instructions.
A Vida Internationale sales representative told XBIZ that the goal of the company is for its line to transcend into the mainstream.
The company's aim was apparent with some of mainstream's pop culture stars in attendance at the launch party. Guests included the entire cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore," actors Shane West and Simon Rex and model, actress Carmen Electra.
Stars from Hollywood to Aspen to Miami are slowly waking up from their New Year's slumber, and the Ministry has eyes all over.
Keep tabs on a sushi-snacking Lady Gaga, pampering Katy Perry, adventure-craving Zac Efron and working mom Amy Poehler after the jump!
Gaga was spotted lingering in Miami after her big New Year's bash, hitting up Nobu with pal Perez Hilton. The pair were overhead discussing Madonna and snacking on sushi.
Katy Perry may (or may not) be engaged to British funnyman Russell Brand, but she certainly likes to look her best for him. Spies in L.A. eyed the singer getting a hair touch-up with stylist Rick Henry at Suburbia Salon in Studio City.
No slouch in the hair department himself, Zac Efron visited Aspen over his break for a weekend with carmaker Audi, which held demonstration events and a VIP dinner to celebrate its new TDI Clean Diesel Technology. Efron, who owns an Audi, excitedly posed for pics with England's national polo team, which the brand sponsors.
Efron's car may be his baby, but singer and newlywed Christina Milian is expecting an actual bambino in the coming months. Milian was recently treated to a holiday-themed baby shower in the Hollywood Hills, where she cleaned up in gifts including something to help with weight control: a G2 Lifestyles Maternity Mat that helps with exercise for moms-to-be.
"Gossip Girl" star Kelly Rutherford has already given birth to her second child and is making sure her figure is TV-worthy for 2010. She recently paid a visit to the Beverly Hills studio of Dr. Robert Rey and Bruno Schiavi, of Dr. Rey's Shapewear, where she was fitted with undergarments to keep her looking trim.
Not everyone has crawled out from his or her respective holiday retreats, so here are some surefire upcoming events where you'll see your fave bold names:
Working mom Amy Poehler will break from baby duties and "Parks and Recreation" to host the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' 19th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, at which she will honor a slew of new inductees, including Candice Bergen.
Need more Robin Thicke? Don't we all. He'll be performing at the launch for new luxury sex toy Vida at West Hollywood's Voyeur club, along with resident sexpot Sofia Vergara of ABC's "Modern Family."

This sleek toy came to me by surprise, Topco had asked me to make a list of stuff I was interested in and they forwarded me this toy while I waited for my goodies. I opened the unsuspecting brown box to find a cute faux leather carrying case with “Vida" imprinted on the front. Curiousity unzipped the case to reveal to me a 7″ black and pink, Zara vibe hidden inside that seemed to be made of metal and ultra hygenic silicone.
My first thoughts were to grab some batteries, but further inspection of my surprise package revealed that it was rechargeable. I crossed my fingers, closed my eyes, and held down the single button controller to see if it was charged in the package... AND IT WAS! I love when that happens.
It buzzed to life in my fingers, a buzzy treble like vibe – not a rumbly bass'y vibe. Kinda like Lelo's Nea, hm. I clicked the button again to see if it had another speed and I'm pleased to report back that the Zara has 5 distinguishable speeds.
My exploritory examination over with, I shut my new Zara off, placed it back in the case... opened the manual and watched the clock.
“Zara caresses your internal erogenous area with a concentration you've never experienced before. Focused entirely on G-Spot stimulation, waterproof Zara satisfies your lust for the pleasures of this previously abstruse spot."
Facts:
* G-Spot Vibrator
* 5 Speeds
* Quiet
* Rechargeable
* Waterproof
* Made of: Anodized Aluminum, silicone (phthalate free)
* Faux leather case includes: Zara, charger, microfiber storage bag and the manual.
* 1 Year Warranty
Fun:
While at work, I charged the toy further, after all I didn't know just how much juice Zara had and I didn't need it to go dead at any pinnacle moments. Its a nice perk to be able to charge my new toys at work, unlike the rest of you who have to wait...tehe.
I caught a couple hours alone later that night and set up my station. Since Zara is made of silicone I took out a water based lube (Climax Bursts Tingle, if you must know), a movie I'm reviewing (Fuck Sasha Grey) and my towel to mop up the potential aftermath.
To cycle through the speeds you have to turn it on (hold the button for a few seconds) and click it again and again for each of the speeds (5 in total). Turning the toy off was easy too (hold the button for a few seconds again).
Zara is cold to the touch and a little heavier than you'd expect it to be because of the materials, but it warms up just fine and has a great shape to it. I used it to warm myself up, tested the speeds on my nipples and breasts, slid it around my vulva teasing myself. The rounded head shape is really nice, some G-Spot toys are too pointy, I don't understand that... why would you -poke- the G-Spot when you could -rub- it with something round.
I really like how silicone changes when lube is put on it, the material becomes almost like a tongue – rough, but slippery. As my movie progressed, and my arousal from the buzzing of the Zara heightened, I slid it into me slowly looking for my G-Spot. Since I know where mine is, it was simple to find with this toy... in this moment I really wished for it to be a little stronger. The buzzy treble vibrations are great for arousal for me personally, but they don't always allow me to orgasm; especially if it is a G-Spot toy. While I didn't have a bed wrecking orgasm, Zara did get me off, and it was easy to use.
I washed it off with a moist wipe, and placed it in the microfiber wrap, which I have to tell you... is awesome. I have ziplock baggies and old tshirts wrapped around my toys and my labeling system sucks. To quickly know what is in each bundle all toys should have their own self labeled pouch like this one.
In Conclusion:
I liked how the button glows (makes it really easy to find), and that you don't have to cycle through the speeds to get it to turn off. The silicone was cushy and the round head on it was a great shape for G-Spot seeking. Zara is quiet, buzzy, rechargeable and looks cool. But I'm not in love love with treble vibes, it isn't MY ultimate vibe, but it is a well made buzzy vibe. If you are in love with treble vibes, get this one from Vida. For everything Zara is, it could quickly become your favorite buzzy G-Spot vibe.
The latest addition to discreet, hand-sized vibes with a good attitude to energy sources, is the Vanta. A sultry, dark machine, you don't have to be a fan of black to appreciate the stylish and sexy look & feel.
Comprising a total of 5 inches (12.5cm), it is slim and short enough to pop in your handbag; there will even be space for the little charger if you are especially ambitious. The modest stature means that this is meant for clitoral use, possibly also shallow penetration. This is not designed for internal use, it simply does not have the proportions. That's because when a girl knows she's looking for a clitoral buzz, there's no point in carrying and storing the extra cargo.
The wider of the two ends is designed for holding onto. The ergonometric shape makes your grip very comfortable, and the half aluminium/half silicone handle is easy to manipulate and slip-resistant, quite important when you've found the perfect spot and dare not lose it!
The vibrating end is silky-feel silicone, which feels pleasant like skin and is easy to wash and keep hygienic, however it tends to pick up lots of dust when left lying around, even for just a few minutes, or perhaps it just shows dust because of the black colour. In any case, so you may find you'll want to rinse it immediately before use, even if you know it was cleaned after last use. The good thing is that washing the Vanta is no hassle since it is waterproof.
The vibrating side has a relatively narrow end, with a slight curve. You can use it to seek out your G-spot, but the curve is otherwise just as useful for comfortable clitoral reach.
There are 5 speeds, from gentle-but-not-too-easy, to ba-da-boom! They are accessed with one button, which is also the on-off button. Switching off demands a long press, so it takes about 3 seconds. Having one button, though, makes it really easy to use without looking. The button is easy to locate as it protrudes, and also has a pink surrounding light when working.
Another great characteristic of a good vibrator is its discretion when at work. Vanta is relatively quiet, as would be expected of a high-end machine.
The final touches add yet another drop of finesse. It comes with a cute, but quite big vanity bag of 200mm(7.9") x 120mm(4.7") x 80mm(3.2") for safe keeping and travel. It looks like just another make-up kit, so it doesn't draw any undue attention, if that is a concern, except for the name “Vida" on the front, but it remains to be seen if that will become a known brand and therefore a give-away clue. This is the same bag that serves various other toys in the series, the others being larger. Inside the bag are the charger, a safe-keeping foam bed and a more discreet, elegant, black tie-up purse.
The Vanta is part of the new Vida collection of stylish, rechargeable vibrators that are at once ecologically-friendly and charming. Of course, rechargeable toys save on battery use, so you won't have any conscience about placing heavy metals in landfills for your pleasure. Now all you need is a wind turbine and you'll be assured the greenest and most plentiful orgasms.

The sleek, sophisticated and discrete designs of this wireless bullet (the Vida Urja) aren't the only features that make it so appealing. The small, uniquely designed bullet is waterproof, which gives peace of mind when used internally, or when cleaning. However, what this bullet has over all the other bullets on the market is that the vibrating bullet is completely rechargeable; and if you think that's cool, wait till you try it. There isn't anything else out there like it!
This little bullet is a lot more than it seems, and has a powerful vibe despite its small size. I definitely wouldn't recommend wearing this bullet to a quiet dinner, and though it's far less noisy than most bullets, even when used internally it sounds like your cell phone may be on the fritz, making it less than ideal for public play. Now, while the range promises twenty feet, we found it works more accurately at a closer distance; and that the single push button takes a while to get used to. The button is a little loud, and the response time slow. It also would have been convenient if there was a kill switch, especially in those situations when we needed it off fast! Regardless of its minor flaws, my fiance and I adore this bullet, and use it often, which gives us more than a few reasons to smile now.
Affordable, exotic, and fun, this little bullet should be in every one's menagerie of intimate accessories. Some fun places to visit with this fabulous toy include: New Age Shops (while belly dancing classes are held), Grocery Stores, Malls, Bookstores (There's usually some music being played loud enough so no one hears it) and on roller coasters. Live adventurously, love playfully with the Vida Urja!
So, thanks to me being open minded about swapping toys, and the Vanta being sterilizable, (gotta love non porous materials) I am now the proud owner of a Vida Vanta! She's a great toy, but I'm not sure how worth the price tag she is.
The Vanta comes with the rechargeable clit toy (too small for insertion), power cord, over-sized carry case and small booklet. The booklet is more promotion for the line of toys than anything. There are some instructions in the back however.
The Vanta is rechargeable as well! Awesome right?? On the top of the thick handle, there is a small flap of silicone that covers the charging port. Simply plug her in to the wall using the power cord and she charges right up! Love, love, love rechargeable toys!
You have a standard power cord, though it's not one of the new sideways ones that makes it easier to plug 2 things into one outlet, so you need to use the bottom outlet if you want to use both parts of the plug.
The carry case is nice, it's leather with a very thick foamy insert for the Vanta to fit (very, very snuggly) in, with room underneath the insert for the power cord. The zipper however is one of those uber thick ones, and I really dislike those. I find (especially this one) to be actually very rough to zip. The booklet is about a half an inch too long no matter what way you put it to fit inside the carry case. Considering how small the toy is and how compact the power cord is, I find the case to be quite a bit .. well, just too much. However, it is very nice to see toys coming out with such good and safe storage, which does make taking it with you on travels easier. However, it would take up quite a lot of space!
As for the toy itself..she has 5 power settings. The button you can see in the picture (it glows pink when it's on) is on and off, as well as scrolls through all 5 power settings. They range from about 2 on a 1-5 scale to so much I could barely feel it. Sound wise though, she is very quiet. Close your door and you're fine. Heck, in the same room go about 10 feet away and you won't hear this toy! So mucho kudos on the quiet factor!!
She feels quite nice up against the skin, being made of anodized steel and hygenic silicone. This means that she is sterlizable (as she's non porous) but you need to make sure to use silicone *free* lubes and cleaners.
As for did she work with me? A bit yep! She's comfy to hold on to, the holding end fitting nice in your hand. However with as short as she is, and being a bit girl it did take a bit to find the exact right position so I could be comfy and also have the smaller end sitting on the right place on my clit.
While she's too short to be insertible, this is a toy that you could use just by moving her over your sensitive bits; your tits, labia, the entry to your vagina. You can get a lot of pleasure in a lot of places with the Vanta!
The button is also in a convenient place for you to click when you need to change the setting. To turn it off, just hold it down for 3 seconds and she will power down.
Finally, she is marked as being "waterproof." I did not submerge her, as I am not comfortable with how much water got into the recharging port by just washing her. I would be comfortable taking her in the shower, no problem. But with the amount of water that got into the charging port from just washing her, I would not feel comfortable submerging her.
She may not be my favorite toy, but with how uber quiet she is, and the uber travel friendly nature of her, this is one I'd have no problems with taking on my travels!
All in all I give the Vida Vanta a 4 out of 5. She's good to use, but a little overpackaged.
If you're an active member in the sex toy community you have most likely heard about Vida International and their line of products. They have been gaining a lot of press lately from appearances with celebrities to the Agent Vida twitter account. It's not hard to see why they have grown to the top of the HOT list. After much lusting for products in this line I settled on reviewing the VIDA Vanta from Fascinations - their prices are the cheapest I've seen which makes owning a Vida vibe very cost efficient.
Vida makes a jaw dropping impression right from the start by packaging each of their products in a beautiful black flax leather storage tote with the Vida logo embossed on the front. If you find that you don't want to use the velvet suede tote to store your new vibrator you have another included option. Inside you will find a soft microfiber storage pouch - also featuring the Vida logo - just untie the bow, open it up and find the slit to slip the vibrator into, fold the panels and secure with the black ribbons. It takes up less space and is more convenient for bedside storage.
Nestled perfectly in memory foam is the Vanta, a sleek onyx black matte silicone and anodized gun metal aluminum clitoral vibrator. The pink band on the control bulb lends the only color when powered off and really gives it a visual appeal. It is five inches long with the largest diameter being an inch and a half at the tip. The bulbous control end fits perfectly in your hand as the curved tip nuzzles against your clitoris. In a way the Vanta reminds me of a backwards Layaspot but with the same hugging action.
Turning the Vanta on is as easy as pushing the control button which will become back-lit with a soft pink light that matches the pink band. To turn off simply press and hold for three seconds, no accidental power offs when cycling through the five speeds of vibrations.
Speed 1 – rivals a cellphone vibration and sounds like one.
Speed 2 – kicks up a level of volume to sound like an electric toothbrush but not much change in strength.
Speed 3 – matches the Layaspot at full strength but is pretty buzzy.
Speed 4 – not much stronger than speed 3.
Speed 5 – double speed 3 and sounds like an electric razor.
While at first I wasn't too impressed with the vibrations the Vanta captured my soul by speed five. For such a small vibrator it packs a very buzzy punch. I was almost driven insane by the tickling sensation on my palm as I gripped the bulbous control end. The vibrations strongly echoed through the handle and as the level went up so did the tickling sensation and volume. Despite this small torture I had to move the former reining Layaspot, over for the new clitoral pleasing queen.
The vibrations are the strongest I've felt in a battery operated and rechargeable line of vibrators. I was able to easily get off without growing frustrated and resorting to the Hitachi. The silicone was soft and the design perfectly spooned into me. I can without a doubt recommend this to anyone who wants a strong rechargeable clitoral stimulator and doesn't mind some buzzy vibrations.
Vida claims their line of vibrators - aside from Urja - are waterproof, but where the aluminum comes together are visible seams where the backlighting from the control button shines through. Because of this I was afraid to test its swimming ability. I can however say that it is splash proof and easy to clean.
Aside from giving you a jaw-dropping arrival the Vanta comes to you fully charged and ready to use. I left it on high and it finally died shortly after the two hour mark, but never fear it is rechargeable. Simply plug the included adapter into the charge port covered by a small silicone flap. When plugged in and charging, the power button is backlit by a blinking pink light which turns to a solid pink light when the charge is complete. The instructions say that you should leave it plugged in for at least three hours for its first charge. After the first charge you can expect it to be ready to use within an hour for two hours of play.
If you haven't gathered by now Vanta has become one of my favorite go-tos for an easy orgasm. It is petite, green friendly, long lasting and easy to use. If it were a little quieter you could slip it into your purse and use it anywhere, but it's not quiet so don't do it unless you want everyone to know your secret.
The Vida Zara is one of the four new toys in the Vida Internationale newly released series. I also own the Vida Vanta, but I've taken it on as a personal goal to end up owning all of the toys in the series, so I bought the Vida Zara from this sex toy store. As you could probably guess, the Vida toys are all gorgeous, luxury toys intended for a woman's pleasure. The company has a line of male toys coming out soon, but I'm focused on the female toys.
The Vida Zara is the toy from the line intended to be used for g-spot stimulation. It's a recharagable sex toy that holds up to two hours of power and is made from silicone and aluminum. It comes fully charged and ready for use. It looks like a regular g-spot vibrator but just a little shorter at only six and a half inches with only about three inches that can be used for insertion.
I'm always pretty impressed with the packaging, and this sex toy has made a name for itself with that. It comes in a travel train bag that zips closed. When you unzip it, you will see the Zara sitting inside black memory foam that keeps it completely safe. Included is the charger, the instruction book, and another smaller little case in case you don't want to store it in the gorgeous travel case. (You insane person, you.) I'm a little disappointed that you can't tell the cases apart though. This will make getting my Zara and Vanta mixed up a problem.
The vibration levels are really what amaze me about the Zara. It has extremely strong vibrations - just like the rest of the series. They are a little buzzy, honestly, but I still find them to be strong. It's nothing like the strong, deep vibrations of the Hitachi, but they are surface vibrations that still provide quite a bit of pleasure during use. Once turned on with the button on the front (The pink LED light will light up to let you know), you can cycle through the five different vibration settings. They are pretty strong - even the weakest one - but I'm sure someone new to vibrators could still use it just fine. To turn off the Zara, you just have to hold down the vibration button for two seconds.
Since it is made of silicone, only water-based lubricant should be used with this luxury sex toy just to make sure it doesn't get harmed. The Zara claims to be waterproof, but I don't trust the claim. I found that it is splash proof, but I didn't try keeping it underwater. To clean the Zara, you just need to use warm water and antibacterial soap after each use to keep the bacteria away.
Overall, I'm just as proud of owning this gorgeous vibrator as I was of owning the Vanta. It provides targeted g-spot stimulation that, while pleasurable, isn't quite perfectly spot on, but it will work for most women who have located their g-spot. The vibration settings work great for pleasure and the firm body makes it easy to apply pressure while the luxury aspect of this toy makes it something that you aren't ashamed of.
Some days, I really loathe the way my body works.
You see, I have issues with vibration. Buzzy, high pitched vibrations - which are usually considered super strong by most folks - make me itch. You know those massage chairs? Or foot massager things? Yeah, they make me itch all over, make me mad, make me want to rip the itching skin from my body.
You can see where this would be a problem when it comes to sex toys, to vibrators meant to stimulate my most sensitive bits.
Wanting to rip my genitals from my body - or throw the vibrator through the winow - is not a good thing.
Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened to me with the Vida Vanta. And, let me tell you, it's about the most depressing thing ever.
See, Vida vibrators are gorgeous. Fucking. Gorgeous. Black, matte, velvety silicone over a firm interior - rather like Lelo products - blends with anodized aluminum to create a modern looking toy that is almost a work of art. They are intuitively shaped, each one with a particular use in mind, each one designed to perform that purpose wonderfully.
I got the Vanta, which is a clitoral stimulator. It's small; 5" x 1.5" x 1", to be exact. It's curved, almost scooped, like a spoon so the clitoral end really nuzzles up to your clitoris, hugging it. Or you can flip it around, use the convex part of the scooped tip to get a lot of pressure if that's what you need. The bulbous control end fits wonderfully in the hand, the matte silicone keeps it from getting too slippery, the controls are easy to use. It should - should! - be the perfect vibrator, especially since it's ungodly strong.
Seriously. I turned it on and nearly dropped it, I was so surprised. The Vanta has five speed settings but there is no way in hell I could use it on anything over the third speed, it's that strong.
Unfortunately, the vibrations are also what ruined it for me. Strong they are but they are also very, very high pitched. They remind me too much of the Hitachi and other wand type vibrators; insane buzzing that nearly makes it fly right out of my hand but also makes me...
Right. Itch.
*sob*
Those of you who like the Hitachi and the Fairy Wands and all those other monstrously strong vibrators will be in clit heaven with the Vanta, however. It really is the strongest small vibrator I've ever felt. Hell, it's stronger than most of my large vibrators. It's as strong as those old plastic beige vibes that take two C cell batteries. Possibly stronger.
Are you getting it yet? This baby is strong.
On top of being super powered, the Vanta - and all Vida vibes - is rechargeable. So you get uber strength but no batteries to replace, ever. You simply plug the adapter into the bottom of the Vanta - the port is covered by a small silicone flap that easily lifts - and then plug the other end into an outlet. Two hours of charging gives you two hours of play time. When plugged in and charging, the control button on the shaft is backlit by a blinking pink light which turns to a steady pink light when the charge is complete.
And speaking of the control button, it could not be easier to use. A single press turns the vibrator on to it's lowest setting, consecutive presses bump the vibrations up a notch. Each press scrolls thru the five vibrational speeds endlessly. To turn it off, at any time, on any speed, you simply press and hold the button and, voila! The vibe is off. Nothing better when you need to turn your vibe off fast than the ability to do so without scrolling thru endless levels and patterns.
The button itself is plastic, I believe, situated in the black and pink anodized aluminum wrap that makes up the control panel. The rest of the vibe is, as mentioned, silicone. There are some seems around the aluminum but Vida says this toy is waterproof and the charging port is well sealed so I'm going to take them at their word.
On top of all that, the Vanta comes in some of the most amazing packaging I've ever seen.
I did not get the gift bag pictured here but the rest is, indeed, included. A faux leather carrying case with a zipper around the top has a thick, memory foam type pad inside that holds the Vanta nestled perfectly. Under that is the charger, tucked inside is also a wonderful microfiber storage bag that easily holds the Vanta and its charger, the sides of the bag wrapping around the toy and tying with a one inch wide ribbon.
It's beautiful. Beyond beautiful, it's pure luxury. The only con I found to the packaging was its smell. I'm not sure if it was the vanity carrying case or the foam inside it but it stunk pretty bad when I first got it. The smell has faded, however, and I expect it to eventually fade completely away.
I want to give sincere and heartfelt thanks to Cory and the rest of the folks over at Adam & Eve for letting me try this toy free for an honest review. I cannot find the words to express how sad I am that the vibrational frequency was the wrong kind for me. I absolutely love everything else about this vibrator, recognize it as the luxury toy it is and wholeheartedly recommend it to those folks who like strong, high pitched vibrations.
By now, most of you have heard of the Vida vibrators, a new line of silicone+metal sex toys with fancy designs and an impressive site to boot. They're working hard at PR, too, with a mysterious Twitter account and appearances with celebrities. They really want you to believe that these vibrators-Lussuria, Vanta, Zara and Urja-are the new "it" thing and, I admit, I was drawn in and in case you are too, here's the low down.
Vida vibrators are made of silicone and anodized aluminum. The metal part does have a sort of plastic-y look to it, even in person, but a tap with a fingernail proves otherwise. It looks particularly rigid up close. In addition to this, my Vida Lussuria is quite the hefty piece but I wouldn't call it unwieldy because the weight is compacted into a 7″ frame which isn't bulky in the least.
Lussuria's design is one which which curves gently outward from a thin (.79" diameter), straight shaft in the center to produce two bulbous ends. While the ends are thicker than the center point of the shaft, they are flat-ish. The side on which the control is positioned is significantly wider (just over 2") than other side, the head (which is about 1.5″ wide). The head itself is somewhat spoon or scoop shaped; one side is convex while the other has a little "dimple." The head angles slightly upward from the thinner part of the shaft while the base curves slightly downward for an extremely loose "S" shape.
On the convex side of the head, there are 4 silicone ridges. The ridges are mostly firm but not quite as rigid as the metal parts of the vibrator. These work well for G-spot stimulation while the spoon side can cradle the clitoris. I don't think I've seen any pictures, yet, which depict the dimple on the head so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened Lussuria and wondered whether it would work well for clitoral stimulation.
It does. Lussuria has a functional design which I really like. The ridges easily cause me to squirt and I was surprised at the orgasms produced via the clit dimple. The overall design is easy to manipulate comfortably and with precision, too.
The shaft, head and last inch or so of the base are coated in silicone (the shinier, kinda "grabby" style) while the anodized aluminum surrounds the single button. There is also a pink stripe/lighted area which follows the contours of the metal. This area has a lot of edges and seams which are not very smooth and neat. I can see it collecting debris and the imperfections reduce the impression of quality IMO. There are especially some imperfections in the pink border which detract from an otherwise awesome colour scheme. At the very end, a small flap is cut out of the silicone; this flap plugs the charging port when Lussuria is not charging. While Lussuria is purportedly waterproof, this flap is not seamless and I would not submerge it.
To turn on the vibrator, simply press the button once. A pale pink light around the button and the pink "border" part both light up. Pressing the button pages through 5 settings of steady vibrations and then back to the lowest. These vibrations are fairly strong but become much too buzzy as you increase strength. The button must be pressed and held to turn off Lussuria but this will also turn it up 1 level higher which is kind of annoying. If, for some reason, I needed to turn it off quickly, it would get louder before turning off.
Even if the vibrations didn't become buzzier as they increased, I would never use this beyond the second or third setting because Lussuria is damned loud. I guess it's because of the metal but I think Vida should have come up with some noise solution before releasing these vibrators and calling it "quiet" is simply a lie. The sound does not aid in discretion at all and I am not fond of toys which hurt my ears.
I was a bit disappointed that Lussuria did not come with more information. It comes with a booklet which contains warranty information, instructions and promotional materials. More pages are dedicated to advertising other products than anything else. The instructions do say that the first full charge will take 3 hours and subsequent charges will take 1 hour. I haven't had to recharge my Lussuria yet, which is awesome, but I have no idea how long it will last and I guess Vida doesn't want customers to know, either.
Lussuria does come with a few interesting acessories. First and foremost, it has its own storage case which vida describes as a "faux leather vanity tote." It looks a bit like a small train case with a handle on the top and a zipper around the front and sides. Vida sides into a foam cutout inside an there is room to toss in the charger beneath the foam. If you remove the cutout, you could use the case to store a few more toys, too; it measures 4.5" x 8." x 3." The Vida logo is embossed in black and red on the front but I have to warn you, this "faux leather" stinks! I mean, the smell of it gives me a headache and I don't want that on my toy.
Luckily, Vida also provides a cushy, store envelope made from microfiber. The design is unique, a rectangular cloth which folds in thirds and ties with a ribbon. Inside is an opening to tuck your Vida vibrator but it's not actually deep enough to hold Lussuria; it will stick out the end of the envelope. I suspect Vida made a one-size-fits-all storage pouch and failed. You don't have to place the vibrator in the pouch, of course. You can simply fold it into the cloth and tie it up; it just fits.
The whole thing comes with a black gift style bag bug mine was just folder, empty with the Vida box. I suspect that would work much better for in person purchases. d=
Lussuria actually worked pretty well for me but Vida needs to work out more kinks before they can call these toys "luxurious" and charge as much as they are for them. The idea of aluminum + silicone is neat but a pure silicone vibrator wouldn't have been any worse. It also would have reduce the number of seams in the toy and hopefully the volume level. The train case and storage pouch are cute but neither offer the perfect storage option. I say skip the frills and lower the price, then we'll talk.
A representative from Vida International contacted me and asked if I'd want to review a product of theirs for them, and after looking at the products, I'd be stupid to say no. All of their line looks beautifully made and just downright gorgeous and luxurious. When I received a Vanta (their clitoral vibrator) in the mail, I found that looks really can be quite accurate.
The Vanta is about five inches long and has a diameter of an inch. It's made from silicone and aluminum - both very body-safe materials and phthalates-free. The Vanta is a rechargable vibrator in the Vida Internationale series. It's made exclusively for external stimulation and was made with obvious care involved. It's beautifully rounded, and there aren't any seams that would be a problem during use. In case you are concerned about purchasing, the manufacturer includes a one-year warranty on any sort of defects of the product as well.
The Vanta and all of Vida Internationale's product have been receiving a lot of press lately - especially when it comes to celebrity press. All of their videos are available on their YouTube page where you can see some of their recent release parties. I've even friended them on their twitter page where you can receive updates about what their "agent" of pleasure is doing. In fact, they even have a gentlemen line that is to be released in July 2010.
When I first received the Vanta, I was in absolute amazement. Even with other luxury toys I've owned, none of them came this nicely packaged. The Vanta itself comes in a gorgeous, black carry-on case - almost like what you'd expect with your make-up. It has a handle and is made from from faux leather. It has the "Vida" symbol inscribed in the front, and a zipper that goes around the top-half of the bag. The zipper can get stuck once in awhile, but it's nothing major. When you open up the case, you'll see the gorgeous Vanta in some foam - feels more like memory foam than regular foam. It's black, velvety, and it obviously will be protecting the Vanta. The Vanta fits in the foam perfectly - it even includes two little finger holes on either side of the vibrator to allow you to pick it up more easily. It holds the Vanta so snugly that even turning the case upside down with the lid open doesn't drop the female vibrator. It stays in place perfectly.
If you pull up the memory foam that the Vanta is in, you will find the charger wrapped in black plastic. Opening the plastic is easy and then you can take the time to plug in your Vanta. However, you don't need to plug it in once you receive it - the Vanta comes fully charged. On to the top of the lid is a small microfiber storage bag for your luxury vibrator. If you find that you don't want to keep it in the storage case, you can untie the bow on the storage bag, open it up all of the way, and slip the vibrator into the pouch that's inside. From there, you can just close the bag back up and re-tie the bow. I personally prefer to keep it in the storage tote, but if you love to keep your favorite vibrator near your bed at night, the storage pouch works perfectly to keep your luxury vibrator safe.
When you first receive the Vanta, it will be charged up. However, when you first decide to charge your Vanta, leave it charging for at least three hours - as per the instructions. Every other time you charge it, it should be charged easily within an hour. To recharge the Vanta, just open the little silicone piece on the bottom of the vibrator to expose the charging hole for the vibrator. From there, the charger can be plugged into the vibrator. The instructions recommend against using your Vida Internationale vibrator while its plugged into the wall. After its fully charged, you can use the toy for up to two hours at full power.
To turn on the vibrator, you just press the button on the front of the Vanta. The back of the LED light will turn pink, and the vibrations will turn on. From there, you can scroll through the vibration strengths by pressing the button. To turn off the vibe, you just hold down the button for three seconds, and it will turn straight off.
The vibration strengths are nothing short of downright amazing. It's nothing like the Hitachi's power, but for a rechargable and portable vibrator, this thing easily packs a large enough punch to satisfy any woman. It has five different levels of vibration - there aren't any patterns, but the strength of the constant vibrations packs an amazing punch. The lowest level starts off at what a regular vibrator would call a medium. then we move to what most would call a high, then really high, then amazingly high, then ridiculously high vibrations. The regular high setting could satisfy a regular vibrator user unless you require really strong vibrations. However - even then, the vast majority of women who require strong vibrations will still be satisified by these vibrations. In case you are curious, the vibrations for the Vanta are centered in the tip of the toy but carry nicely down the shaft as well.
The vibrations can get to be a little loud on some of the higher settings. The three lowest settings wouldn't be able to be heard through a closed door, but the two highest could possibly be heard through a closed door if someone was attempting to listen in. However, some quiet music being played would easily mask the sound. It'd be even more masked if you covered yourself with a blanket while using the vibrator.
This sex toy claims to be waterproof as well. From my experience, that appears to be true. Even with the charging point at the bottom of the toy, it withstood being splashed, being cleaned, as well as being dunked under a couple inches of water. If you want to play in water, just make sure the charger cover is covered.
The Vanta (which means "Want" in a foreign language) is such a great vibe because its so non-threatening. Whether you want to use this by yourself or with a partner, it doesn't seem like an object that would be intimidating to you nor to your partner. If you are nervous about bringing a vibrator into the bedroom - either because of you or because of your partner - this one works great, doesn't require batteries, and is a non-threatening and visually pleasing shape. If you are an advanced user and just want some amazingly strong, luxurious, and green to the environment, this is a great buy as well.
I personally love it. The case is gorgeous, and the vibrator works amazingly. It has strong vibration levels, is made from body-safe materials, and provides pleasure perfectly. It completely covers the clitoral area, and the buttons don't get in the way during use. The handle is curved perfectly to be held during use as well. The LED light will let you know when its on - which obviously isn't require during use - but the fact that Vida thought enough to even make the color of the LED match the toy just makes me happy. It's an amazing toy, and I have to say I've enjoyed quite a few orgasms from it already. The vibrations make it perfect as a clitoral toy, and since that's how I enjoy my pleasure, this works amazingly for me. If you like clitoral pleasure, this has my recommendation 100%.
The Vanta is only intended for external use. It's large enough that it could be used internally, but I doubt it would be long enough to be comfortable for extended use. If you are looking for an internal vibe, Vida Internationale also makes a vibe called "Lussuria". If you are seeking g-spot pleasure, Vida makes the "Zara" as well. Both are the same in structure but are longer and curved perfectly for insertion.
During play with your Vanta, water-based lubricant is recommended. Because part of this toy is silicone-based, using silicone lubricant could actually end up injuring the toy. Play it on the safe side and only use water-based lubricant with your gorgeous new sex toy. After use, you should wash the Vanta with anti-bacterial soap and some warm water to keep it clean and bacteria-free.
This sex toy is a great choice for the beginner or the advanced user alike. If you are seeking a good-quality, luxury sex toy that will last for years while providing amazing amounts of pleasure, the Vanta is the way to go. Since many people are trying to reduce their impact on the environment, purchasing the Vanta could be a good idea. It's rechargable, phthalate-free, and made without mercury nor cadmium. The Vanta isn't sold in many retail stores that I've found, but it is sold on the Vida International website. To purchase your own Vanta, just head over to their website.
